FALLS CHURCH, Va. โ€”โ€” Silver Hammer Publishing has launched four free e-mail newsletters that help consumers, medical professionals, and health journalists stay on top of the latest health news.

The weekly newsletters summarize the most important news stories, medical journal articles, government reports, and new Web site announcements. Each summary has a link to the original document.

The newsletters include:

o HealthESites tracks articles about health information on the Internet and how the Internet is being used in health care. Each issue also has descriptions of the best new health-related Web sites.

o Health Newsbrief summarizes the most important health news from the previous week, and provides links to the original news articles, journal articles, and government reports.

o Women’s Health Newsbrief monitors health news of special interest to women, providing a summary of each document and a link to the original source.

o Men’s Health Newsbrief reviews health news geared toward men, briefly summarizing each item and linking to the original document.

Archived issues of the newsletters and information about how to subscribe are available at http://silverhammerpub.com

All four newsletters are edited by Bruce Maxwell, an award-winning investigative journalist, author, and president of Silver Hammer Publishing. They’re designed to complement Maxwell’s book, “How to Find Health Information on the Internet,” which is published by Congressional Quarterly in Washington, D.C.

The book has received outstanding reviews from publications such as The Lancet, Choice, Issues in Science and Technology Librarianship, USA TODAY.com, Online, Family Practice, the Internet Resources Newsletter, International Health News, and Medical Reference Services Quarterly, among others.

In a recent review, the journal Health Care on the Internet said: “This title will undoubtedly be a stand-by on the ready reference shelves of public, academic, larger school and consumer health libraries, simply because it is the best of the lot that have appeared in the past year or soโ€ฆOne can only hope for frequent revisions.”

Maxwell also has written several other books about finding information online, including the just-published “How to Track Politics on the Internet” and “How to Access the Federal Government on the Internet.” Both are published by Congressional Quarterly.

Excerpts from all of Maxwell’s books are available at his personal Web site: http://bmaxwell.home.mindspring.com
